about

It was a cold and bitter early December morning. The previous night's fire had refused to die, but the warmth from its coals could no longer be felt against the chill of the chimney’s draft.

Downstairs, beneath stocking hats and slippers, away from the winter winds that whipped outside, Daddy and Baby Monkey were filling their bellies with the days first round of hot cocoa. When they were finished, Baby Monkey grinned a big chocolate mustache grin, and in the spirit of the upcoming holiday, began singing The Wassail Song. “Wait!,” Daddy Monkey said with a surprise. A microphone stood like a Christmas tree in the corner of the room and he reached for his laptop. He pushed a small red ornament-looking button at the top of the screen making little lights on the microphone light up.

“I think we should record this! What do you think? Just for fun?” Daddy Monkey asked, hoping to not spoil the moment. He handed Baby Monkey a pair of black earmuff-looking headphones and said “Here. Try these on.” “One, two. Check. Check. One, two,” said Baby Monkey, recalling all of the times she had watched Daddy Monkey perform, and imitating his low voice. “I think we should record a whole Christmas album!” And so, as it was said, so it was done, and it’s been told that on Christmas Day relatives and neighbors rejoiced all across the land. No one had ever heard such a joyous sound, or received such a heartwarming gift before. A gift for the holidays that would truly keep on giving and be treasured for an eternity.

Recorded at home November - December 2018. Vocals and all instruments by Matt Cox. Additional vocals by Lauren "Baby Monkey" Lucille.
